The thought and talent that went into this meticulously restored Alexander butterfly is incredible. It is actually more stunning than the photos. Everything is brand-new and sparkling and actually functional. We had an architectural buff with us who was constantly aflutter all weekend about the design elements; others of our party couldn’t quit commenting on the decorating and wallcoverings. I was more interested with the kitchen and pool area.

As someone who needs to get away from people intermittently, the beautiful private spaces of this house were very much appreciated. Each bedroom has an outside haven area complete with outside power source and place to set your drink.

The kitchen has double sinks and double dishwashers, which I thought were overkill until we started cooking together. Everyone had their own diva space. Lovely! It’s a great house to entertain in. I loved all the platters and gadgets we kept finding (a virtual plethora!) – and it was a daunting hunt. We would think the provisioners had forgotten to include some tool or dish, but would eventually find it. A schematic listing where all the kitchen tools and dishes reside would have been very helpful. I'm still irritated I found the nesting sieves after I no longer needed them, and I know there must be a garlic press there somewhere.

Our techie friends were drooling over the hi-def TVs, sound system, smart cooling system features and programmable LED lights.

The big beds with beanbags by the pool are actually comfortable and the pink and orange pillows useful. The little tables next to each chair were great and made me giggle when I realized they weren't actual rocks. Any photographs by the pool with the stark San Jacintos as a backdrop, the palm trees as a foil, and the pinks and oranges of the pool accessories and aqua of the pool are stunning. If you haven’t already started composing photos in your head this house may be wasted on you.

One caution regarding the photos in the west hallway: Bring some Post-Its to put over Jane Mansfield’s cleavage if you don’t want certain members of your party spending a lot of time standing there.

Brought my kids here and had a fantastic time. The place is gigantic but feels intimate in each sub suite and nook of the house. This place is well laid out and totally functional for several families. I have mid-kids and they enjoyed so many parts of the house from the pool that they almost never left to the various lounging areas that are great to escape to for games, reading or just to chill out in midday heat of Palm Springs. I have been to a number of luxury spots that feel like house sharing all many have been lovely, but this place is truly stunning.

The photos on this site, while spectacular, don't convey just how wonderful this house is. The setting, with its mountain backdrop, is beautiful and serene. As for the house, it's nothing short of amazing. The common areas are spacious and airy, the bedrooms are luxurious, and kitchens and bathrooms are extremely well appointed. The decor throughout the house is brilliant and often whimsical. Attention to detail throughout is exquisite. Finally, the pool and spa -- these deserve a review of their own. Suffice it to say that I had to force myself to get out of the water long enough to enjoy the rest of the property.

I can say only good things about this rental and eagerly await my next opportunity to stay there. If you're thinking about booking a rental here, DO IT.
